About Me

Hello,

I’m Rosa,

I am a Certified Public Accountant with 19 years of experience in the industry. I am passionate about helping women thrive in their careers by sharing my experiences of working in Corporate America, to help them not make the mistakes I made.

I have created this platform to provide a support network for women to achieve a better quality of life. In this space, we will share tips, tricks and strategies to be productive in a world with so much information and distractions. Through this platform, we can lift each other up to effectively manage the increasing demands of working, while raising a family.

Elevate means “uplift” in Spanish and English. This word is a cognate, which means this word has the same meaning, spelling and similar pronunciation, both in English and Spanish. I chose this word and modified it to the verb, Eleva in Spanish, to name my blog because I am Latina, and I want to share my journey with other career-minded women from all over the world. Also, I want to create a bridge between the two cultures I love! I came to America in 1995 and I was born in Acapulco, Mexico.

Throughout my career, I’ve been a mentor, a mentee, and I’ve been sharing my 22-year career journey with college, and high school students who want to hear an honest opinion of what is like to work in the corporate world. Most recently, I was a mentor at Deloitte Academy, a mentorship program that prepares inner-city high school students to choose the best option for them; whether they’re going to college, trade school, or start working immediately.

Most recently I reached a milestone in the accounting firm I work for, I was promoted to Auditor Senior Manager in the summer. I am elated because is a big accomplishment, especially as a Latina.

Lastly, I am a Poderista™️ ambassador for a digital community, which main goal is to elevate, amplify and build Latina power, while harnessing the power of the collective to make change for herself, her community and the world for a better future

For all my amigas looking for a place to be seen and empowered, @poderistas is for you. Join me and follow this community built to celebrate our cultura and harness our PODER.

What is your story?

With John C. Bogle, founder and former chairman of the Vanguard Group. I’ll always cherish the time I had the opportunity to meet the legendary pioneer during his book signing, The Little Book of Common Sense Investing.

Mr. Bogle always had a smile on his face when you came in contact with him. He enjoyed having lunch in the main cafeteria.

This picture was taken while I was working at Vanguard, Malvern, PA in 2017.
